Monthly Meetings - First Tuesday of each month @ 6:00 pm Social Hour, 7:00 pm Meeting begins

Picture
Monthly meetings are held at Zilker Botanical Garden Auditorium, 2220  Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78746. Meetings are meant to be fun, and not burdened with business details.

Our society brings in nationally and internationally recognized speakers that are experts in their areas. Usually, the speaker will bring plants to sell.

Society members are welcome to bring orchid plants in bloom to display on the show table, and these are commented on after the program. Plant raffles are held periodically.  We also have orchid auctions, and two greenhouse tours each year, giving you more opportunities to buy and learn about orchids.

Visitors are always welcome!  Do come join us!

Meetings are usually held both in person at Zilker Botanical Gardens, and virtually using ZOOM. Due to the nature of some programs, not all meetings will have a virtual option (live auctions and holiday parties, for example).

“How to Grow Beautiful Orchids” Workshop

Orchids are resilient.

They've outlived the dinosaurs and existed long before us humans. Yet, they are also fragile, particularly when grown outside their natural habitat and standard growing conditions.

The good news?

Most struggling orchids can be saved…

Whether your orchid is suffering from leaf problems, bloom problems, root problems, overwatering, pests, or diseases (not an exhaustive list)... there is often a way to nurse it back to health.

To ensure you are armed with growing advice you can trust, you've been selected to receive a copy of "The AOS Guide to Orchids and their Culture" book at no charge, shipped to you anywhere in the world when you join the AOS today.

Because getting the right advice can make all the difference.

Online orchid advice is often conflicting, or just plain wrong. Just ask AOS member Lukas Funnell-Zahra, who learned this the hard way.

He got into orchids after keeping dart frogs (yes, dart frogs!), and quickly joined the AOS after his first few orchids died (RIP)…
