Our Mission and Affiliations
The purpose of Heart of Texas Orchid Society, a non-profit, educational organization, is to stimulate an interest in orchids regarding propagation, conservation, care and culture, purchasing, disease prevention, nomenclature, and through exhibition.

Our goal is to assist our members in learning all facets of orchids, sharing their knowledge and experiences, experiencing new ideas, and promoting their love of orchids.

As one of approximately 550 societies affiliated with American Orchid Society, we are a dedicated group of individuals bursting with enthusiasm for orchids, and eager to share this knowledge with others.

Heart of Texas Orchid Society is an active member of:
  • Austin Area Garden Council
  • American Orchid Society
  • Southwest Regional Orchid Growers Association (SWROGA)
  • Orchid Digest
Our member representatives attend affiliation meetings and events, and you can, too.

Our History - Celebrating over 60 years of learning and sharing with our members

In June of 1961, Heart of Texas Orchid Society was organized by 12 charter members who gathered extensive orchid knowledge and freely shared it with all who were interested. This allowed our society to broaden our reach to new and younger generations of orchid growers.

Whether you are 12 or 92, we understand and encourage your love of orchids. Many of us have been growing for more than 30 years, and some members have just begun this exciting journey. Learn from our experience and past mistakes. Together we will make your orchids thrive!
