Question: How to get rid of ants in your pots?
Answer: Here are a couple of things that work great. They are Boric acid and Diatomaceous Earth. Here is a little information about
both.
Boric acid may be used either in bait formulation containing a little sugar as an attractant, or as a dry powder. Using the dry powder,
ants will travel through the boric acid, which adheres to their legs. When the insects groom themselves, they then ingest the poison causing
death through starvation and dehydration. As long as the material is not allowed to become wet, its continuous presence ensures that hatching
insects are exposed and die also. While boric acid is somewhat slower acting than synthetic pesticides it is highly effective over a long
period of time.
Diatomaceous Earth is also a safe brand Ant and Crawling Insect Killer that is an effective formulation of amorphous diatomaceous earth which
is also safe and environmentally friendly. Insects come in contact with the powder or ingest it and literally dry up and die within 48 hours.
It is an odorless, non-staining powder that remains effective in the control of insects as long as it is present. Use for cockroaches, ants,
earwigs, silverfish, crickets, millipedes and centipedes.
